0-0: A hard fought goalless draw at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium

Even though Almeria dominated most of the game, the side did not manage to score in the second-half.

Almeria had to settle for a point. It is the fifth time that Almeria failed to win this year. The players deserved a better result in the second-half but the rojiblancos failed to defeat Fuenlabrada and missed a great opportunity to reach leaders, who lost in Gijón on Friday.

The visitors started the game trying to get on the front foot but in the early stages the Fuenlabrada’s defence were dealing with any threat quite comfortably. Almeria were struggling to break down their rivals’ defensive wall. In addition, Almeria did not make things easy for the team from Madrid and our contenders did not create many scoring chances.

After half-time, Almeria were willing to react. In the 49th minute, Juan Muñoz finished off a Corpas’ cross, who was very active during the entire match, but unfortunately the ball hit the post.

The second-half certainly had much more of a spark than the first. Almeria were slowly getting back ball possession and did not get away with a goal as Juan Muñoz was in an off-side position. It was the 62nd minute.

Almeria were becoming more and more powerful but Fuenlabrada, meanwhile, were determined to hold Almeria to a draw. Lazo, Vada and Barbero were introduced as our team looked to find a way to win the game late on, but chances remained few and far between. UD Almeria did their best but the final result would never change.
