Youthful players testing positive for Covid-19 prompt postponement of three Academy sides training
The decision has been adopted as a precaution. It affects the Almeria U-19s and Almeria U-16s teams
UD Almería, in compliance with the health and safety protocols, has decided to suspend the training of three of its Academy youth teams, the two Almeria Under-19s teams and Almeria Under16’s ‘A’, when three young homegrown players, besides some other members of the Academy staff, tested positive for Covid-19. With regard to Almeria Under-16s ‘B’, prevention is always better than cure, so the side’s training will also be halted, since the teenagers have direct contact with the rest of the aforementioned teams.
The players and their coaching teams are in quarantine awaiting further medical tests. As a consequence, the club has requested the postponement of the competition fixtures that these three teams were meant to play at the weekend.
On the other hand, fourth-tier Almeria ‘B’ as well as the two Under-14s sides and the Under-12s will continue with their usual training programmes as no cases have been detected so far.
