Dzódic: 'Anything can still happen here'

The UD Almería central midfielder still believes in automatic promotion and says play-offs would be 'another route to reach LaLiga.'

UD Almería are still holding on to their hopes of automatic promotion, determined to do their job and trust that the unpredictable nature of LaLiga Hypermotion can still open the door.

Speaking to the Club’s official media, Stefan Dzôdić admitted the last result was difficult to take, but remains confident. 'The other day was a tough blow because automatic promotion is no longer in our hands, but we believe in our chances and we know we can still do it. In these 2 games, anything can happen,' the Montpellier native stated.

The 21-year-old also analysed the final stretch of the season: ''We’ve seen everything in this league and I think it can still happen. Every team have a chance to win, no matter if they're at the top or bottom of the table, or whether they're playing for something or not.'

Dzódic gave a recent example involving Sporting de Gijón: ''Sporting won in Zaragoza the other day, even though Zaragoza were the team with something at stake. So we must win these two matches.'

The Serbian player also spoke about facing Sporting de Gijón this weekend: 'We aren't approaching the match thinking about whether they have objectives or not.'

The Serbia U21 international added that third place is also important if automatic promotion is missed: 'If we don’t achieve automatic promotion, these matches are also important because 3rd place is still at stake. That matters to us because of our fans and the home advantage.'

Dzódic insisted that, although automatic promotion remains the main goal, the team would face the play-offs with full commitment. 'The objective was, and still is, automatic promotion, but we would approach the play-offs with all our strength and enthusiasm. It’s an opportunity. If we win the play-offs, we will still be in LaLiga,' he explained.

Dzódic also reflected on his first season in Spain and the valuable experience he is gaining in such a demanding competition.
