Wellington successfully operated on for a meniscus injury by Dr. Ripoll and Dr. De Prado

The Almeria ‘B’ keeper will be set for a long stint on the sidelines according to the prestigious traumatologists

Almeria ‘B’ goalkeeper Wellington Luis Farias da Silva has been successfully operated on for a meniscus injury by Dr. Ripoll and Dr. De Prado at the Sport Clinic Ripoll and De Prado (Centro de Excelencia FIFA) at the QuirónSalud Hospital located in the Spanish region of Murcia. The keeper will be set for a four-month spell on the sidelines.

The surgery consisted of performing a suture of the lateral meniscus in the right knee. It was moments before the UD Almeria ‘B’ team’s visit to Antequera when Wellington felt some discomfort, but this did not prevent him from playing throughout the 90 minutes. The pain grew stronger and after several tests, it was decided that Wellington needed to undergo surgery.

The Brazilian goalkeeper, who has just begun his recovery process, started in the four games in which he was eligible for head coach Fernando Santos, since he could be lined up from the first phase last matchday of the 2020/21 season.
