‘We have to start the game very strong because Osasuna are tough opponents’

José Gomes admits enthusiasm and motivation, but acknowledges that ‘we’re going to play against a Primera Division team’

Almería face the Spanish Copa de Rey last-16 without putting intense pressure on ourselves, as José Gomes pointed out over the match preview: ‘Our enthusiasm and motivation are great but the Osasuna have the responsibility to prove they are in the top tier Primera Division for a reason.’ Nonetheless, the Rojiblancos head coach stated that they will fight to the maximum: ‘It’s a competition in which all the teams would like to go as far as possible. It’s beautiful and we’re going to try it.’

When it comes down to assessing CA Osasuna, Gomes explained in detail: ‘The rivals are obviously very strong and a well organised team. They’re really powerful physically. They use fast counter-attacks and cross the ball into the box with quality. Their drop back leaves no space for supporting attackers. It’ll be difficult but we want to play it and try to win it’.

Regarding the type of match, the Lusitanian expects that ‘it’ll be anybody’s game because both of us will go all out for a win and when that happens, there’re more chances of watching a match with spaces.’ Gomes stated that ‘one of the keys will be to start the game very strong. My team are highly motivated and everyone is ready to play and compete in it.’
