‘We have to accept whatever the Federation decides; I hope they take great care when thinking about it’

Nandinho, head coach of Almeria B, expresses his opinion on the RFEF's proposal to end the competition in Third Division by means of express play-offs

As soon as the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) submitted a proposal with the idea of bringing the season in Third Division to an end on a fast track by playing express play-offs, Fernando Santos, 'Nandinho', head coach of Almería B, commented ‘We have to accept whatever the Federation decides; I hope they take great care when thinking about it. At least, they should try to finish the remaining games. Let's see what happens’.

The RFEF issued a statement in which the Federation conducted a poll to all football groups to ‘terminate the regular competition through an express procedure.’

If this this proposal gets the green light, Almería B will finish the competition without the option of going all out in order to gain promotion to Segunda B. The side are currently sitting fifth place just three points behind the automatic promotion spots with a superior goal difference over 4th-place Real Jaén. For this reason, the Portuguese head coach of the youth team players explained: ‘Of course we do not like that scenario because if they are finally going for the play-offs and the table remains as it is right now, all the hard work we have done is not worth anything.’

Not surprisingly, the Almeria B team have spent most of the season at the top of the table and the homegrown players immensely enjoyed an unbeaten run of sixteen match weeks without losing.
