‘We didn't deserve to lose this game’

José Gomes assures that UD Almería will fight for automatic promotion until the end

José Gomes had a feeling after his team's defeat against Rayo Vallecano: ‘We didn't deserve to lose this game.’ This was stated in the press room while sharing his thoughts that, in his opinion, Almería played ‘better, but without creating scoring opportunities,’ together with the fact that the Rojiblancos had more possession and their ball circulation stood out. ‘The players have always wanted to score,’ he added.

Extending his post-game analysis, the Portuguese head coach explained: ‘After the sending-off, it's another game. We’ve suffered a bit of fatigue and the changes have improved. With ten players we were better than them, but there was a counter-attack, which I think we could’ve stopped, and they shot with luck because the ball deflected off Cuenca, otherwise Fernando would’ve stopped it.’ Likewise, the gaffer pointed out ‘it’d be another game if there was more freshness’ against ‘strong rivals who have quality.’ Not surprisingly, the Indalicos have had to face three league commitments in just six days.

José Gomes wanted to assure everyone that the Rojiblancos will not give up at any time. ‘You can be sure that UD Almeria are going all out for promotion until the end,’ he concluded.
