‘We adopted the required attitude for a professional team and that’s why we’ve been able to win’

José Gomes recognises that his footballers have shown high quality to overcome tough opponents Hospitalet

‘We adopted the required attitude for a professional team and that’s the only reason we’ve been able to win’, these were José Gomes’ words during the first cup tie analysis in which UD Almería made it to the second round of the Spanish Cup. That is why he highlighted the difficulty created by the home team Centre d'Esports L'Hospitalet: ‘If we just look at the result, it seems that it’s been easy, but it wasn’t,’ he exclaimed.

Considering the excellent quality shown by the Almeria footballers, the Portuguese team coach acknowledged: ‘I have to say that my players have complicated my life when it comes down to making decisions about who is going to play.’ Nevertheless, he also wanted to share his thought that ‘they’re young people’ with whom you have to ‘be patient because they have potential.’

José Gomes does not care if the next rivals to come out of next Friday's Copa del Rey draw compete either in the top flight or second tier, but for the Lusitanian coach the key point is ‘to continue giving a chance of minutes’ and that all of the squad members keep pace with the competition whilst the 2020/21 campaign continues.
