UD Almería shifts focus to Cultural Leonesa clash after midweek break
The Rojiblancos prepare for busy week with second fixture to be played on Sunday in León, Castilla y León
After a well-earned rest day on Wednesday, UD Almería resumed training on Thursday at the Anexo UD Almería stadium as they set their sights on the second league fixture of the week. The Rojiblancos will face off against Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa on Sunday at 7:30pm (Spanish Cup) at the Reino de León Stadium.
This follows a 1-0 win over Albacete BP on Monday, marking the first of three matches in a busy week. Next Friday, August 29, UD Almería will travel to San Sebastián for their third fixture in quick succession.
The hosts, Cultural Leonesa, will be eager to put their disappointing season opener behind them after suffering a heavy 4-0 loss to Burgos CF, a match in which they played with 10 men for the majority of the game. The León-based side will aim to bounce back in front of their home crowd in this match.
UD Almería showcased some promising attacking play against Albacete BP, and head coach Rubi will be hoping to build on that momentum. However, the team will also need to tighten up defensively, with the upcoming encounter likely to be a test of their defensive resilience.
In terms of injuries, Baba is nearing full fitness but remains sidelined, while Bruno Iribarne is still unavailable. Nelson Monte, who suffered a serious ankle sprain during pre-season, is recovering well and being closely monitored by the Club's medical team.
