Back to work ahead of crucial run-in
UD Almería resume training with a demanding fixture list starting at league table-toppers Racing Santander
UD Almería returned to training after two days off, kicking off a decisive week that will end on Sunday with a top-of-the-table clash against Real Racing Club, current table-toppers of LaLiga Hypermotion, just one point ahead of the Andalusian side.
The squad enjoyed a brief breather following 3 matches in 7 days, but now face a less congested yet far more demanding schedule, playing once a week with promotion at stake. After facing Racing de Santander, UD Almería will host Málaga CF, another direct rival in the tight race for promotion. The run continues with a derby against Granada CF, followed by fixtures against CD Mirandés, Burgos CF, and UD Las Palmas. The regular season will conclude away to Sporting de Gijón and at home to Real Valladolid.
For now, the main focus is firmly on Sunday’s showdown at El Sardinero stadium. After climbing back into second place and capitalising on slip-ups from their rivals, the Rojiblancos know they have a golden chance to go top of the table. A victory would mark a major step toward securing automatic promotion to the top flight. However, Racing will be equally determined to respond after their heavy defeat to FC Andorra and reassert their dominance.
Head coach Rubi oversaw an intense training session at the Anexo pitch with the full squad present. Baptistão will miss the clash through suspension, while Gui Guedes trained separately as he nears the end of his recovery from injury.
The Indálicos will continue preparations behind closed doors from Thursday through Saturday before flying to Santander on Matchday morning.
