UD Almería head coach Xavier García Pimienta was delighted with the 3 points earned in Córdoba, UD Almería’s first away win of the season and especially with the manner in which they were secured. Speaking at the post-match press conference, the UD Almería head coach said: 'Victories like this give a team a huge boost.'

'I’m very happy with the win, the work, the commitment and the suffering we had to endure,' he added. The UD Almería boss acknowledged that Córdoba CF had been the better side in the first half.

'We knew we were coming to a very difficult ground. Córdoba CF are a very intense team who try to do a lot with the ball. Their high press caused us problems and, although they got forward, they didn’t create any clear-cut chances,' he explained.

He continued: 'We came out better in the second half, had more possession, created danger and were clinical. They put us under pressure towards the end, but we knew how to suffer. In a league like this, that’s essential.'

Despite his satisfaction at securing UD Almería’s first away win, García Pimienta remained cautious, stressing that the season is still only in its early stages. Nevertheless, he insisted that 'this result makes us continue to believe in what we are doing.'

The Barcelona native was also pleased to see Thalys return to action and score. He then spoke about Quim Junyent, who was sent off after receiving two yellow cards.

'He ended up crying because of the sending-off. I told him that what he needed to do was celebrate the victory, because he had played a fantastic game. This is part of the process. He committed two fouls and was shown two yellow cards, even though he is a player who embodies fair play,' he concluded.
