Vicente Moreno: We're going to do the maximum work to live up to expectations

The new UD Almería head coach has been officially presented by Managing Director Mohamed El Assy at the Power Horse Stadium press room

We're going to do the maximum work to live up to what is expected of us,' stated new UD Almeria head coach Vicente Moreno at the press conference held in his official presentation by UD Almería Managing Director Mohamed El Assy, who welcomed him and wished him the best of luck for this 2023/24 season.

Vicente Moreno stressed that the agreement with the Club was closed quickly, and in this regard, he explained: 'From the first moment, I felt that those responsible for the Club really wanted us to come here and we wanted to return to Spain to a club like UD Almeria. The truth is that we're very happy and excited. I'd like to thank Turki Alalshikh, Mohamed El Assy and João Gonçalves for their interest.'

On the other hand, the new Rojiblancos' gaffer pointed out: 'I know this Club well, I've faced them as a player and as a coach too. I've been able to verify its continuous growth. My coaching staff and I also want to grow professionally here in Almeria.' Vicente Moreno valued 'the team's fans and we want to do a good job so that we're all happy.'

When asked about his game philosophy, the Massanassa native replied: 'The first thing I want is that my team wins, but we have to find the way to get there. I like my team to be good at hybrid and dynamic systems, effectively manage possession of the ball and find a clever way to win the ball back. It must be taken into account that there are different rivals and many other factors that influence on the gameplay.'

On that note, the former Al-Shabab FC head coach emphasised: 'The smart thing is to know how to find the right path that leads you to victory, but you always need to have character, an attacking mindset and balance.'

Regarding the objectives of the 2023/24 season, Vicente Moreno said: 'We want to improve and grow with respect to what was achieved last season, considering that survival was secured, something that is really complicated.'

The new head coach starts the pre-season with all the players who have a contract with the Club bearing in mind that there will be changes. 'Both the Club and I know where we want to strengthen ourselves to make a leap in quality. Although that is the intention, then the transfer window, salary caps for instance, have an influence. We're sure of our objective.'
