Rubi: 'We'll find the vaccine that will cure the patient'
Rubi uses a medical simile to talk about UD Almería's situation and explains that training focuses especially on the defensive work. He praises Burgos CF and states: 'We're indebted to the fans,' although he needs everyone to stick together to try to win this Saturday
UD Almería head coach Rubi has looked ahead to this Saturday's game against Burgos CF and the difficult situation of the team. When asked about a medical diagnosis about UD Almería, he responded in the same terms: 'Right now we're trying to find the vaccine that will cure the patient, and we will. We're going through a rough patch that we didn't expect and not winning for so long is hard.'
In addition, the gaffer explained: 'At first we thought we were on the right track, but we're already making too many mistakes.' For this reason, he indicated: 'We're focused on defensive work. We must improve a lot defensively and be effective. We have an eye for goal but maybe we should take greater precautions.'
The Catalan head coach was asked again on how to solve the defensive problem: 'It isn't easy for the players to grasp the concepts that we see in the videos and put into practice on the pitch, but I believe that we're on the right path to correct it.'
The Vilassar de Mar native did not hesitate to point out how risky the team's situation was: 'We're going to be fighting at the top. Now the objective is to try to beat Burgos CF and get out of this 20th position in which we find ourselves.' He is well aware that the support of the fans and being united is key but 'I understand that they criticise us as we aren't performing up to standard. I cannot ask our supporters for anything because we're indebted to them, although it'd be an act of generosity if they supported us.'
Regarding the Castilla y León opponents, Rubi did not hesitate to comment: 'They're doing a great job.' He highlighted their good vertical football skills, counter-attacks and set-pieces.
Rubi also wished former UD Almería player Curro a speedy recovery, who plays now for Burgos CF and praised Lucas Robertone for his attitude and will to play despite his shoulder injury. The Argentinian has undergone surgery this Friday morning. 'I trust that everything goes well and he'll be back with us as soon as possible. Robertone is going to be a great addition for the second half of the season.' Also, he confirmed that Marc Pubill has been ruled out for the next league appointment at the UD Almería Stadium.
