Rubi: 'We're going to Cádiz to win no matter what'
The UD Almería head coach acknowledges that the match 'is very difficult,' but is confident that 'we'll be able to win it because there's a lot at stake.' The gaffer is grateful for the fans' unwavering support and praised the opponents and their head coach Gaizka Garitano
'We're going to Cádiz to win no matter what,' said UD Almería head coach Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia 'Rubi' in the press pre-Cádiz press conference. 'Every match is decisive, but after the momentum we've built, it also takes on great importance to remain in our play-off spot or even try to reach one of the top-two positions, although this is very complicated,' he argued.
'We're obliged to win everything and we won't be relying on ourselves; we'll need midfield teams to compete well against our direct rivals,' Rubi pointed out.
The Catalan didn't want to speculate and instead focused solely on the Cádiz match 'and leaving the Nuevo Mirandilla Stadium with 65 points.' To achieve this, UD Almería will have to change the run of away games' results. When asked about this, he stated: 'We can't go against our strengths. It's true that we can go 20 minutes without anything happening and then create 4 or 5 chances in 15 minutes. We have to know how to take advantage of that and above all accompany it with good defensive display so as not to give anything away to the opponents. We don't want them to score because of our mistakes.'
On that note, he emphasised: We have to keep our feet on the ground because Cádiz CF are strong on home turf. In their last 10 home games, they have only lost to the league leaders, and in their last 5 matches, they have conceded one goal.'
The Vilassar de Mar native also explained: 'They have a squad of excellent players, with plenty of playing time in the top division, a variety of attacking characteristics... and all of this with a knowledgeable gaffer with a script prepared for his players to execute on the pitch.'
'Gaizka Garitano and his coaching team know our squad and the division perfectly and all of his teams compete very well,' he explained.
On the other hand, Rubi thanked the UD Almería travelling fans 'who are going to make the huge effort to travel to Cádiz on a weekday. We want to continue fostering that positive energy that should help us all achieve our goal,' he concluded.
