Edgar González: 'It's going to be a nice game for the spectators'
The UD Almería centre-back describes Saturday's game as 'high intensity.' He also considers Real Oviedo one of the clear candidates for promotion to Primera: 'They aren't going to come looking for a tie or to park the bus.'
UD Almería centre-back Edgar González has spoken into the microphones of UDA Radio about various topics related to UD Almería putting the main focus on Saturday's encounter against his former team Real Oviedo. The player began by sharing his impression of the Oviedo outfit: 'I believe they're one of the candidates for promotion to Primera. They're great players and they've also strengthened themselves well in this January transfer window. In the first half of the season fixture they beat us, now we're working so that this Saturday we can see a recognisable UD Almería that are going all out for the 3 points,' he stated.
The Sant Joan Despí native continued delving into the opponents' offensive potential: 'They've got different alternatives; wingers who can move either wide in an one-vs-one against the full-back or move diagonally into the area. Alemão helps a lot in that way not only with goals, but also he contributes to the style of play.'
The centre-back highlighted the attractiveness of the match against Real Oviedo due to their position in the table and the style of play that both teams present: 'It's going to be a nice match for the spectator, face-to-face, two teams that want to attack. They aren't going to come here to look for a tie or to park the bus, they're going to take the game to us, to press high up the pitch and put pressure on us when we start the build-up play.'
The 27-year-old also spoke about the defeat against Albacete BP, who ended the Rojiblancos' streak of 14 games without losing: 'There's a bit of anger and above all, it's a blow of reality. It's important that we're aware that nothing is done. We were on a roll, but sooner or later a defeat comes and we must be prepared for the reaction.'
Edgar believes in the great potential of his team in every sense, which is why he recognised: 'The objective is promotion and the path is to think about the next game knowing the competitiveness that exists in the second tier and that each team can complicate your life if you aren't performing at your best. We know that, due to work, staff and quality, we're closer to winning than losing.'
Finally, the Catalan expressed the vibes he feels towards the Asturianos given his past as a Carbayón footballer: 'It's special. In the first half of the season match they made me feel very welcome there. I was very comfortable at that stage. I wish them good luck starting Saturday and hopefully at the end of the year we'll both earn promotion.'
