Under-19s ‘A’ team-mates reunite for a hard-fought victory over ’26 de Febrero’

Youth ‘B’ hopefuls remain leaders despite their 3-2 defeat to CD Medina

UD Almería Under19-s ‘A’ team-mates reunited for victory in group IV ‘within Division de Honor league and, in addition, they did so by showing a great teamwork in their encounter against ‘CD 26 de Febrero’. Cato’s goal inspired his team to success. As for the Almeria Under-19s ‘B’ boys, they experienced a difficult trip to Melilla. The score was 3-2 at full-time with the young Rojiblancos falling behind CD Medina. Even though both sides were evenly-matched, the game was decided by small details.

Miguel Compán's pupils, who played their commitment at the Anexo ground next to the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium, continued their impressive form and showed outstanding teamwork. In short, they put their hearts and souls into the game to keep all three points at home against the boys from Malaga. The first minutes enjoyed red and white colours and the approaches were obvious with a good control of the ball, to such an extent that Cato found the opener (1-0) on 12 minutes at the end of a great set-piece from the Academy squad. From there until full-time, goal scoring opportunities followed one another. Although there were clear chances, the scoreboard did not change anymore, sealing the Rojiblancos’ win. 

The Almeria head coach lined up Dela; Pedro, Jorge Fernández, Rubén Barranco, Paco Benítez, Marío Mañas, Adri, Cato, Josemi, Abel Mellado and Yepes. As the game progressed, Tomás, Marco, Sergi, Iván Ferrer and Juanjo Linares also jumped on the pitch for some action.

With regard to UD Almería Under19-s ‘B’, the teenagers continue at the top of group XIII ‘A’ within Liga Nacional Juvenil tournament despite their defeat to CD Medina on such a difficult pitch to win, La Espiguera de Melilla. It was a lottery. Either of the two sides could win. The hosts went ahead in the 24th minute and Almeria fought back from 1-0 down to draw 1-1 thanks to Soto before the interval. After the restart, Medina did not settle for a draw and managed to untie. Not happy with that, Gabri scored the second for Almeria on 62 minutes to draw level (2-2). However, the Almería’s joy would not last long, since the Melilla players scored just two minutes later to clinch victory. Full-time: 3-2 

Alberto Lasarte opted for a starting XI formed by Juan Carlos; Edu, Aarón, Iván Méndez, Gabri, Soto, Anás, Vicente Martínez, David Montes, Daniel Fernández Ibarra and Álvaro García. Valen, Gustavo Galera, Joan, Sandro and Ramón Fernández also got their minutes.
