Powerful attack meets rock-solid defence
UD Almería’s firepower faces a tough test against Burgos CF’ defensive strength
UD Almería, the second-highest scoring side in LaLiga Hypermotion, must once again showcase their attacking prowess as they travel to face Burgos CF, the side with one of the league’s tightest defences. The Rojiblancos resumed training after Tuesday’s rest day, with Chirino back available.
UD Almería have returned to the thick of things with full focus on Saturday’s 4:15pm game at El Plantío stadium, a crucial fixture in their push for promotion. In one of their final away games of the season, they face direct rivals also chasing a spot in the top flight, making the ñ3 points vital for both sides.
Rubi’s men, who have netted 78 goals this season, just one fewer than Racing Santander, will need to be at their attacking best. Burgos CF boast the second-best defensive record in the league, conceding only 33 goals (just behind UD Las Palmas with 32) and they are especially formidable at home, allowing just 12 goals in 19 matches. Breaking down Luis Miguel Ramis’ defensive set-up will be no easy task.
The Indálicos arrive in strong form, having won their last 3 matches while scoring 11 goals, though they have conceded 6. Still, the overall momentum is clearly positive. Burgos CF, meanwhile, have picked up just 2 points from their last 9, scoring only twice, both penalties converted by former UD Almería player Curro. Despite this dip, the Castilians had an excellent season and have lost only 3 times on home turf.
For this encounter, Rubi will welcome back Chirino after serving his 2-match suspension. Baba remains a doubt, pending his recovery in what is a short but demanding week. The focus will be equally on tactical preparation and physical recovery, given the accumulated fatigue at this stage of the season.
The squad trained this Wednesday at the Anexo base and will continue preparations behind closed doors at the UD Almería Stadium on Thursday and Friday.
