UDA 'B' to go all out for promotion in CD Toledo's fortress
The 'Salto del Caballo' stadium will host the final between the Verdes and the Rojiblancos at 7pm this Sunday. Promotion to Segunda RFEF is at stake against a team that has proven to be extremely tough to beat on home soil
UD Almería 'B' will face CD Toledo at 7pm local time on Sunday in the big final for promotion to Segunda RFEF at the 'Salto del Caballo', the stadium where the Verdes play their home games. This sporting venue has capacity of 5,500 seats, it was inaugurated on 23 November, 1973, the first match played there being CD Toledo vs Atlético de Madrid. Luis Aragonés was in charge of scoring the very first goal in the history of that stadium.
The name given to the house of the Castilian La Mancha side is because it was built where the military stables of the Infantry Academy were located, where equestrian events were usually held.
CD Toledo, this season, has turned their pitch into a fortress. They have played 17 games in the regular season of which they have won 10, drawn 5 and has only lost twice. There are 30 goals for and only 10 against in their tally, and thus making the Verde team the fourth best at home in the entire group, made up of 18. Without a doubt, these are numbers that only go to prove how difficult it is to win in 'El Salto del Caballo.'
Furthermore, they are data and statistics that have not only been achieved this campaign, since, if we look back to 2022/23, the team led by Rubén Gala was the third best team at home in their group with 8 wins, 4 draws and 3 defeats, scoring 18 goals and conceding 12.
It will not be easy for UD Almería 'B', who will have to face a final with the home advantage against and a stadium that will be packed to see the potential promotion of their team. Neither of the two teams has an advantage on the score, both start from that one-all tie obtained in the first leg, so if at the end of the full 90 minutes, the match continues in a draw, there will be extra time and if it continues after those two halves of 15 minutes each, there would be a penalty shootout.
