UD Almeria U19 ‘A’ get 2022/23 season underway

The Academy prospects are playing away to side ‘CD 26 de Febrero’ on Saturday (kick-off 7pm CEST)

UD Almeria U19s ‘A’ are playing their first official game of the season in 'Division de Honor Juvenil' league and will do so away from home against Malaga-based side ‘CD 26 de Febrero.’ The match will be played this Saturday, 3 September at the Virreina. An exciting season ahead for Alberto Lasarte's team, also with the high motivation of beating youth sides Real Madrid CF and Villarreal CF just a week ago in pre-season friendly matches.

The UD Almeria U19s ‘A’ head coach gave a press conference to assess how the team is facing this start to the season. The Academy prospects’ gaffer made it clear that the goal ‘is to train the players and for them to grow up in a favorauble environment. We want to see their progress by June.’ Regarding the development of the campaign, he pointed out ‘this season our courage won't have any bounds, we want to compete effectively and rank as high as possible.’ He even stressed ‘we’re standing out more and more at youth level and we have to be more ambitious.’

Alberto Lasarte has no doubt that his teams ‘take the game to their rivals with and without the ball, very intense, attacking and fast. People are going to have fun watching us play.’ The Rojiblanco head coach added ‘we’ve had a great pre-season, especially in the final stretch against teams like Elche, Villarreal and Real Madrid.’ Lasarte looked ahead to the start of the season ‘if we want to be at the top of the table we have to know how to score on difficult fields like CD 26 de Febrero’s.' He concluded his speech by encouraging all the fans to attend the first game at home against Sevilla: ‘We invite all the fans to go to the Francisco Pomedio stadium in Huércal de Almería town to enjoy a great show.’
