UD Almería to meet again in Vallecas with Santiago Bernabéu referee

Francisco José Hernández Maeso has been appointed as the match official for the game that the Rojiblancos are playing against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. Hernández Hernández will not be in the VAR

UD Almería will be meeting again on Sunday at the Vallecas Stadium with the Extremadura referee Francisco José Hernández Maeso, who was in charge of the past fixture at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. He has been appointed to referee the one the Rojiblancos will play against Rayo Vallecano thus weekend.

A little more than three months later, coinciding with the relegation to Segunda División and once player Gonzalo Melero completed his four-game suspension for his statements after that game against Real Madrid CF described as a 'scandal', 'robbery'… by the national media, Hernández Maeso has been reappointed for another UD Almería match.

On this occasion, however, Alejandro José Hernández Hernández will not be in the VAR, who was the one who refereed the match in accordance with his way of acting from the VAR room, confusing and influencing the decisions previously taken by Francisco José Hernández Maeso. In fact, this was recognised by the Referees Committee as reported at the time by some national media.

On the eve of this match, the Real Madrid CF TV channel had produced a report on what they understood to be errors committed by Hernández Hernández in matches played by the Merengues.
