UD Almería roll up their sleeves to beat Girona FC

The Rojiblancos put in the graft at the Juegos Mediterráneos as they will also do this Saturday

Big games keep on coming. Sunday’s match against Girona FC at Juegos Mediterráneos (kick-off 9pm Spain Time) will be a tough one for sure so UD Almería have rolled up their sleeves. The Rojiblancos are looking to notch up a home victory after the last draw with CD Lugo under the Mediterraneo lights. Head coach Rubi has highlighted in the pre-Girona presser that the results of the five remaining games at home will be essential in the fight for automatic promotion to the top flight.

After the last remarkable victory over CD Tenerife on the island, UD Almería are determined to build on that as they have a golden opportunity to consolidate their hold onto automatic promotion. They are four points ahead of Real Valladolid CF, seven over CD Tenerife and could extend the advantage over Girona FC by thirteen points.

For this reason, the Indalicos are getting ready for this encounter against more direct rivals. This Friday, the squad has exercised behind closed doors at the Juegos Mediterráneos Stadium, where they will meet again on Saturday evening.

Sadiq will not be at Juegos Mediterraneos this Sunday as the Nigerian has joined his national team so as to compete in the Africa Cup of Nations. Samú Costa, who has been suspended for one game, will not be there either. As for Carriço, he is in the final stretch of his recovery. On the contrary, Robertone rejoined his team-mates last week…and Juan Villar is back into the fold after shaking off his muscle injury…and this is good news!
