UD Almería ready to host and beat FC Cartagena at home

Rubi confirms plenty of absentees as Covid rocks the squad. The first game of 2022 will be the first reverse game. The support of the fans will be vital

The UD Almería squad players are preparing to face this Sunday the first game of 2022 and the first reverse fixture against FC Cartagena at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium (KO 2pm Spain Time/ Matchday 22). The Rojiblancos will have to do their very best to win the match since Covid has rocked the squad. Rubi had already announced the day before at a press conference that only half of the squad is available due to Covid-19, injuries and bans.

UD Almería tried to postpone the game but nothing could be done in the end so playing it under these conditions is actually unfair, as the head coach also stressed. As a result, the UD Almeria team, who did not play the last fixture of 2021 against CD Lugo as the match was suspended due to a Covid-19 surge within the Galician squad, will have to walk onto the pitch with confidence if they want to defeat highly competitive FC Cartagena. The next rivals are quality players with wide experience, goal scorer Rubén Castro, is a clear example.

The Rojiblancos will give it their all with great faith as they count on the unwavering support of their loyal fans.
