UD Almería make 32 transfer moves in the summer 2020 transfer window
There 19 new faces in relation to last season. The club broke the record with the most expensive transfer sale in the second-tier league history
UD Almería made the most summer transfer window deals within the SmartBank league. The Rojiblanco club made a total of thirty-two transfer moves in the make-up of its first-team squad that will defend the Almeria badge during the 2020/21 campaign, which is already heading towards matchday 5.
In relation to the arrival of new footballers to build a dream team, there are a total of 19 new faces in the dressing room after the signings of Ramazani, Aketxe, Morlanes, Chumi, Juan Villar, Makaridze, Aitor Buñuel, Cristian Olivera, Juan Manuel Gutiérrez, Pedro Mendes, Akieme, Jorge Cuenca, Centelles, Robertone, Samú Costa, João Carvalho, Umar Sadiq and Jordi Escobar. French centre-back Peybernes joins the list following his return after spending last season on loan at CD Lugo without making his debut for the team. Moreover, Nikola Maraš loan-to-buy deal made plus Fran Villalba loan deal extension means that the number of incomings comes to 20.
UD Almería were also highly active when it comes down to loaning players to other teams. In this regard, there are 7 names that, despite being still under contract with the Almeria club, will compete during the season wearing other kits: Dragan Rosic, Yanis Rahmani, Jonathan Silva, Juan Ibiza, Valentín Vada, Iván Martos and Sergio Aguza.
The Rojiblancos’ club stood out during the summer transfer window for breaking the record with the most expensive ever transfer sale in the second-tier league history after reaching an agreement with Portuguese top-flight club SL Benfica over the 24 million euros transfer of natural-born goalscorer Darwin Núñez.
Regarding the team’s outings, the Andalusian club reached agreements with René Román, José Romera, Chema Núñez and Enzo Zidane to terminate their contracts by mutual consent. Thus, these negotiations make it 32 moves in total.
On the other hand, goalie Fernando, Balliu, César de la Hoz, Petrovic, Corpas, Appiah and Lazo will continue in the squad. It is worth highlighting, in relation to the latter, that during lockdown over the coronavirus pandemic, Almería activated the option to option clause to buy the Sanlúcar de Barrameda-born left-winger that they had agreed with Getafe CF.
UD Almería were undoubtedly the most active club during this hectic summer transfer window in Spanish football since its official opening on 4th August. On top of that, it should be mentioned that homegrown players Jero Lario, Rubén Enri and Callejón have also been loaned to other teams competing in Segunda Division B, the third-tier in Spanish football. The three talented youngsters renewed their contracts after having joined the first-team training in the final stretch of the 2019/20 season.
