UD Almería keep pushing forward to overcome obstacles

The Rojiblancos are confident of maintaining the high level of performance displayed against Girona FC over the second half of the season, although reinforcing their attacking options. The squad receives a visit from a school from La Mojonera

UD Almería keep pushing forward to overcome obstacles and are confident of maintaining the high level of performance displayed against Girona FC, current LaLiga EA Sports pacesetters, in the second half of the competition that has just begun. At the same time, they are well aware of reinforcing their attacking options, especially in terms of finishing, which was what was missing to get the three points against the only undefeated team away from home in the league.

Since head coach Gaizka Garitano took over the reins, the team has been making positive progress and apart from being edged out in the last trips, including the games against Atlético de Madrid and FC Barcelona, they have been sharing the spoils on home turf keeping three clean sheets on the spin, but with the deficit of effectiveness in attack.

The fact that injured players are recovering, including striker Luis Suárez, can improve this weakness, something that is decisive because, as recognised by gaffer Mr Garitano, there is no point in improving and playing well if they do not win, which is the goal.

The squad members face a long week of training to try to meet these goals and this Monday, the starters against the Catalans and Gonzalo Melero, who has just come back from an injury, have done recovery work-outs, while the rest of the players have exercised with more intensity and with the presence of up to six UD Almería 'B' youngsters: Joan, Marsu, Keven, Ballestero, Varó, Luis Lara and Abel.

Luis Suárez, who was back to league action after three and a half months on the treatment table, has joined the latter group to boost his match fitness. Marc Pubill and Edgar also worked out, however, they ended last Sunday's match with some discomfort, but not César Montes, who is awaiting medical tests.

UD Almería have a day off this Tuesday, and as from Wednesday, they will focus on preparation for next Sunday's away stern test against Real Madrid CF at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Finally, it is worth highlighting that in the first training session of the week, the Rojiblancos received a visit from students from the Venta del Viso School located in the Almeria-based village called La Mojonera.
