UD Almería celebrate 300th top-flight match

This is the 8th season in which the Rojiblancos are competing in the top tier of the Spanish football. The Indálicos debuted in the 2007/08 campaign with a spectacular away victory over Deportivo de La Coruña (0-3)

UD Almería have celebrated their 300th top-flight match at the Vallecas Stadium. This is their 8th season competing in the top tier of football Spanish in which they blew their chance to secure league survival last weekend against Getafe CF.

UD Almería's debut in Primera Division was in the 2007/08 campaign with a comprehensive home win against Deportivo de La Coruña at the Riazor Stadium where the Rojiblancos were led by former head coach Unai Emery. They won 0-3 with goals courtesy of Negredo, Soriano and Crusat. It was 26th August, 2007 and the Indálicos kicked off a season that would turn out to be brilliant. So much so that they were about to qualify for the European competition.

The team spent 4 consecutive seasons in the Primera Division, which were the best years in the Club's history so far. The team also played  their match number 100 in the past 2009/10 campaign and on Matchday 24 with a new away win, this time against Racing de Santander (0-2) with Juan Manuel Lillo on the driving seat back then, who had just replaced Hugo Sánchez shortly before. Soriano and Piatti found the back of the net at El Sardinero Stadium in Santander.

UD Almería went down to the second tier in the 2010/11 season, but soon returned to the top tier in 2013/14. In the next one (2014/15) and on Matchday 10, the Rojiblancos played their 200th game, also away from home, on Levante UD's pitch, but with a defeat (2- 1). In that 2014/15 season, the Andalusian side were relegated again and had to wait for the 2022/23 campaign, the last one, to play again in the top flight of Spanish football.

Now, on Matchday 34 in the current 2023/24, the game 300 has been played with UD Almería mathematically already relegated.
