UD Almería become champions of the first half of competition

The Rojiblancos lead with 7 points over the second and third placed teams with two matches left before the reverse fixtures

UD Almería have been untouchable in the LaLiga SmartBank this term to become the champions of the first half of the competition, a symbolic but at the same time very significant title that confirms the Rojiblancos' brilliant run in the competition. With two games left before the reverse fixtures, UD Almeria lead with 7 points over the second and third placed teams SD Ponferradina and SD Eibar.

UD Almería are on 42 points while their most direct rivals have collected 35. Promotion-hunting CD Tenerife have 34 points, Real Valladolid, 31 and UD Las Palmas with 30 follow them behind. The last huge point picked up last Saturday against CF Fuenlabrada was of great value due to the characteristics of the match and what it means for qualifying purposes.

UD Almería have been undefeated in the last 9 league games, with a balance of 7 wins and 2 draws. Rubi's men are the ones who have scored the most triumphs, the ones who have lost the fewest games, the highest scoring team, the side who have conceded the fewest goals, the Club with the best home and away form...

After Matchday 19, SD Ponferradina climbed up to second place so that SD Eibar have moved down to third after falling to Real Zaragoza, UD Almería's next rivals this Saturday. Real Valladolid also lost while CD Tenerife achieved a last-minute point in Cartagena. It seems that some second tier teams cannot keep up with the table-toppers Rojiblancos in the fight for promotion to the top tier as the results speak for themselves.
