UD Almería beat Vélez CF 1-0 in warm-up match

The Rojiblancos fashion chances to score goals as the woodwork denies them three times. 28 players got minutes in their legs against the Malaga-based side

UD Almería closed out the first week of their pre-season with a warm-up match against Segunda Division RFEF side Vélez CF,  which the Rojiblancos won 1-0. The result could have been better due to the countless chances fashioned, especially in the second half. The great saves by the visiting goalkeeper, the woodwork denying them up to three times and the lack of pinpoint-precision in front of goal, including a penalty, avoided it. On the 7th minute mark Serbian Nikola Maraš scored the match-winning goal just after a corner-kick (1-0). 28 footballers got minutes in their legs as they played for approximately half an hour each.

UD Almería, fully immersed in their pre-season, have no break and this Monday (9 am CEST) they’ll be back in training to begin the second week of summer preparations in which the Rojiblancos will continue to exercise on the Anexo training ground until Friday. On Saturday, they will be heading off to Andalusian city Jerez de la Frontera in order to get their training camp started that will be taking place at Montecastillo. As soon as they arrive, a friendly match against Córdoba CF is in order (KO 8pm CEST). The next day, Sunday, another friendly against San Fernando CD (KO 7:30pm CEST); both opponents compete in third-tier Primera División RFEF.

UD Almería will be away until Tuesday, 2 August. There will be 11 intense days of training and also warm-up matches, since in addition to those mentioned above, on 29 and 30 July, the Indalicos will be taking on second-tier teams Málaga CF and Granada CF. There will still be 2 more games before the week in which LaLiga Santander kicks off. On Friday, 5 August, UD Almeria will be playing neighbouring side FC Cartagena while on Sunday, 7 August, Al-Hilal Saudi FC will be the opposition in England, champions of Saudi Arabia and several times winners of the Asian Champions League. The Saudi Arabian outfit played the FIFA Club World Cup this past season.
