UD Almería 'B' secure play-offs place!

The promotion-chasing UDA Academy prospects beat FC Málaga City and CF Motril suffered a reverse last weekend. The first knockout round will be held on 18-19 May with the rivals yet to be determined

Any football fan worth their salt knows that the play-offs are among the most exciting series of games in any season's calendar. UD Almería 'B' have mathematically secured their play-offs for promotion to Segunda RFEF spot. With three fixtures to go until the end of the regular season, the UDA Academy prospects have already met one of the objectives set at the beginning of the season, the next one to complete would be promotion, but it will not be easy at all.

The sides that will play it have practically already been determined: Atlético Malagueño, UD Almería 'B' and UD Torre del Mar, the only thing left to do is assign positions. However, there are still two outfits that may change places: current table-toppers Juventud de Torremolinos CF and runners-up Real Jaén separated by 6 points with 9 points left at stake, so automatic promotion is not yet confirmed.

On the one hand, the second-placed team will face the fifth-placed team, while the third-placed outfit will lock horns with the fourth-placed side.

What will the play-offs be like? The first leg will be played on the pitch of the team in the lowest position, while the second leg will be played in the stadium of the rivals placed higher in the table. Whoever finishes the season in second position will always enjoy the home-field advantage.

On the other hand, when a knockout match ends in a tie, there will be extra time, but no penalties. The best placed team in the standings will advance to the next round.

Should UD Almería 'B' manage to overcome knockout rounds, there will be three that will be played to subsequently play a final as a double-header against another promotion-chasing side from another group, but with a difference with the previous ones, in case of a tie, there will be penalties.
