UD Almeria ‘B’ are play-offs-bound in Estepona

The UDA Academy prospects are taking on Marbella FC at midday this Sunday in a first-round single-legged tie

UD Almeria ‘B’ commence their play-offs journey to the Segunda Division RFEF at midday this Sunday in Estepona. The squad will spend the night in the Malaga-based city with an eye to arrive in the best possible conditions and well-rested for the crunch game against Marbella FC. The youthful Rojiblancos will go all out to win the first-round single-legged tie and progress to the next knockout stage..

The UDA youth team have been beavering away during the week with total concentration and with the conviction of the importance of staying faithful to their effective style of play that helped them fulfill the first objective of entering the play-offs for promotion. That’s the message conveyed by head coach Óscar Fernández and squad skipper Fermín in the pre-match pressers.

As UD Almería ‘B’ finished lower-ranked in the table than Marbella FC, the victory is the only way for the UD Almeria Academy side as they do not have the favourable factor in the event of a hypothetical draw after extra time. On this point, the gaffer made it clear: ‘This is how it is. As I've been telling the guys all week, champions are crowned by winning. We’re UD Almería and we ‘ve got to go there with the hope of winning and qualifying.’

Despite the nearly 300 kilometres between Andalusian cities Almeria and Estepona, it is expected that there will be a significant Rojiblancos’ attendance in the stands after the trip organised by the UDA Supporters Federation, apart from those fans who will travel in their private vehicles.

Any player could be named in the team roster and Óscar Fernández announces the starting XI this Sunday before the kick-off.
