
UD Almeria are one of the highest scoring teams in the last seasons
Only Rayo Vallecano (53 goals) and Valladolid (52) in the 2017-18 season scored more goals after 31 match weeks.
Almeria are the one of the highest scoring teams of the SmartBank League on 51 goals after matchday 31 of the championship, outplaying Real Zaragoza (45) six goals ahead, Mirandés (42) nine goals and both Cádiz (41) and Elche (41) in ten goal lead; their offensive game have been superb as the side have been standing out since the beginning of the competition. The Rojiblancos are breaking records.
In fact, it should be stressed that the squad led by José María Gutiérrez, are the third highest scoring team in the men's second professional association football division of the Spanish football league in the last four seasons until matchday 31 this year. If we look back over the 2017/18 season, only Rayo Vallecano and Valladolid surpassed Almeria; scoring 53 and 52 goals, respectively. In that campaign both aforementioned clubs and SD Huesca were promoted to First Division. In the same season, Almeria had 31 goals at this point in the tournament, 20 goals fewer than today.
The same happened in 2016/17, in which Girona and Levante made 50 and 46 goals, respectively, followed by Cádiz, with 42. The first two clubs and Getafe gained promotion to the top flight division of Spanish Football.
Last year in the 2018/19 Second Division, Osasuna (43) and Mallorca (41) were the top scoring teams, while Albacete, Cádiz and Deportivo found the net 40 times. The Navarros and Majorcans would jump onto the First Division, as well as Granada, who had scored 38 goals. Last Saturday's 4-0 against Deportivo has been the biggest win of Almeria, along with the spectacular 4-0 victory also achieved in Lugo in the beginning of the new decade. The Rojiblancos scored three goals against Albacete (3-0), Las Palmas (0-3), Girona (3-1), Extremadura (3-2), Tenerife (1-3) and Mirandés (3-1) in 6 fixtures. Unfortunately, Almeria scored no goals in 6 league matches this season.
As for the individual goal tallies for the highest-scoring players this campaign, the Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez, with 12 goals, is the top goal scorer in the team, followed by other prolific marksmen such as Juan Muñoz (8) and Lazo (8). The ball crossed the goal-line thanks to shots from Corpas (3), Aguza (3), Maras (2) as well. Other players who made one goal were César de la Hoz (1), Balliu (1), Petrovic (1), Vada (1), Romera (1) and Villalba (1). Last but not least, Sekou (6), Owona (1) and Nkaka (1) also scored goals.
