UD Almeria General Director Mohamed el Assy and University of Almeria Vice-chancellor Carmelo Rodríguez sign a collaboration agreement
Students of the University of Almería will be able to participate in work placements within the different departments of UD Almería, in addition to taking advantage of the possibilities that the Club will offer them when doing master's degrees and degree final projects. These are some of the agreements reached by the UAL and UD Almeria within the collaboration agreement signed by University of Almería Vice-chancellor Carmelo Rodriguez and UD Almería General Director Mohamed El Assy.
The event took place in the VIP room of the authorities box at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium, with the presence of UAL Vice-chancellor of Postgraduate, Employability and Relations with Companies and Institutional Juan García García and UD Almeria COO Mostafa Yilmaz.
After signing the agreement and exchanging UD Almeria and UAL shirts, Mohamed El Assy expressed his great satisfaction with the new agreement reached with the University, at the same time that he thanked the UAL and its councillors for their willingness to become involved in this fresh initiative. The UD Almeria CEO stressed ‘for us, it’s special to sign this agreement because we’re going to help the training of students and also to find their way in the world of work.’ Mohamed El Assy pointed out ‘I was recently giving a lecture at the University and I was able to verify the great interest of the students in our Club. Now they can experience it from within.’ He also explained ‘we’re a football club, but on a professional level… we’re also a company with different departments.’
UAL Vice-chancellor Carmelo Rodríguez also welcomed the signing of this mutual agreement, which he described as ‘a symbol of a long-awaited rapprochement between two of the most beloved institutions in Almeria society.’
Moreover, the Vice-chancellor stressed ‘we begin a very rewarding stage that will be beneficial for both with this agreement.’ On the other hand, Carmelo Rodríguez indicated that with this signature other alternatives are also opened, such as giving impetus to the University initiative Experiencias Profesionales (‘Professional Experiences’ in English). The agreement includes, in the same way, that university students will have a special price on single-game tickets and that UD Almería can promote its volunteer campaign with UAL students. The Vice-chancellor ended his speech by wishing the Rojiblancos a promotion to the Primera Division.’
Before the event, Carmelo Rodríguez and the other representatives of the University who were at the Stadium, learned how the Juegos Mediterraneos remodelling works are progressing in a guided tour given by UDA COO Mostafa Yilmaz.
