Two training sessions to prepare for tough test against UD Las Palmas

The Rojiblancos are training behind closed doors this Friday and Saturday, the day they will be flying out to Gran Canaria

After the Spanish Cup third-round tie, LaLiga Santander gets underway for UD Almería with a tough test against UD Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria Stadium (kick-off 9:30 pm CET). The rivals from the island have had more time to rest since they haven’t played the Copa del Rey tournament. After the first defeat at home to FC Cartagena influenced by a Covid-ravaged Rojiblancos’ squad, UD Almeria are keen on becoming the best version of themselves as head coach Rubi has recently announced ‘we need time to regain our cruising speed.’

The UD Almeria squad members will have two training sessions to prepare for this clash when the Rojiblancos are 3 points clear of second-placed SD Eibar, 5 over third-placed Real Valladolid CF and 11 above next opponents UD Las Palmas, who are approaching the promotion play-off spots. On a side note, UD Almería have a postponed game in hand against CD Lugo.

The league meeting is of the utmost importance in order to continue keeping the most direct rivals at bay in the fight for automatic promotion to the Spanish top tier. The absentees and the fact that some players are not in full shape yet after suffering from Covid-19, are a handicap for Rubi' side, who in these two training sessions will seek the best possible strategy. The football practices will be conducted behind closed doors this Friday and Saturday, the day when the UD Almeria travelling squad will be flying charter to Las Palmas.
