Turki Alalshikh awarded at the ‘Almería Awards’
Mohamed El Assy received the distinction awarded by ‘La Voz de Almería’ newspaper. The authorities praised the club president’s project
Turki Alalshikh, president and owner of UD Almería, has been awarded at Premios Almeria (Almería Awards) for the great support he gave to our city and province to fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The distinction, awarded by La Voz de Almería newspaper, was collected by Mohamed El Assy, UD Almeria director general and CEO.
Turki Alalshikh was the centre of attention at this popular event held at the Maestro Padilla Auditorium. La Voz de Almería newspaper appreciated the great management developed since his arrival at the club for the team’s improvement, the cultural events organised, the stadium remodelling project ... but above all, for the social work.
Bear in mind that Turki Alalshikh donated 1,200,000 € to fight against the coronavirus pandemic in Almería, which was invested in medical supplies and in aid to those groups most in need. In addition, he recently announced a new donation of 200.000 € to acquire the vaccines to be distributed amongst inhabitants of Almeria, apart from other solidarity actions that are going to take place this Christmas.
The authorities who were present at the event were full of praise for Turki Alalshikh, the Deputy Mayor María Vázquez; the delegate of the Andalusian Government in Almería, Maribel Sánchez, and Javier Aureliano García, the president of Diputacion de Almeria (Almeria Government Delegation), who emphasised that ‘Turki Alalshikh is one of us.’
Mohamed El Assy, UD Almeria director general and CEO, collected the award, commenting that the owner of the club could not attend the event because he is in his home country, Saudi Arabia, after spending a long time in the United States due to health reasons. El Assy added that ‘he asked me to say on his behalf that he’s really grateful and that he can’t get enough of all the heart-warming messages and great support from Almeria.’
Mohamed El Assy pointed out that Turki Alalshikh is a very thoughtful and committed person, and for this reason, he does not hesitate to help a land, such as Almería, with which he feels so endeared to.
