Three training sessions before next league encounter
UD Almería prepare for Saturday’s 6:30pm fixture against Real Zaragoza at the Ibercaja Stadium with the squad set to travel on Friday afternoon
UD Almería have returned to training after the day off granted on Tuesday following Monday’s victory over Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa. The players are already preparing for their next league fixture. The match comes quickly, scheduled for Saturday at 6:30pm (CET), when the Rojiblancos will play away to Real Zaragoza at the Ibercaja Stadium.
It will be the first of two consecutive away games for UD Almería, who will return to the region of Aragón shortly after to take on SD Huesca on Friday, 20 March.
If last week felt long, this one is the opposite. The squad will have just 3 training sessions to prepare for a Zaragoza side that ended a 7-game winless run with a victory in Cádiz last Friday. Real Zaragoza remain in the relegation zone, sitting second from bottom, but that win, combined with a recent coaching change, has revived their hopes.
UD Almería’s visit therefore shapes up as a major test. Not only for the hosts, who have the second-worst home record in the league, but also for the Andalusian side themselves. Rubi’s side have become one of the toughest teams to beat after climbing into the automatic promotion spots. They arrive in strong form, unbeaten in their last 6 matches with 5 wins and 1 draw.
Confidence is high and nearly the entire squad is available. As the head coach described it, having so many options is 'a luxury.'
With only 3 practices to fine-tune preparations, all of them held behind closed doors, the Indálicos will travel to Zaragoza on a charter flight on Friday afternoon. Every player is available except Dzôdić, who is still being monitored after suffering an ankle issue in Albacete.
