Miguel de la Fuente: 'I’ll work hard until the last second I’m here'

The new UD Almería striker reflects on the vital victory against AD Ceuta FC and the road ahead

UD Almería centre-forward Miguel de la Fuente made a bold entrance into the new dressing room, instantly asserting himself: 'As a forward, I really want to score in every game, but the other day, I went home very happy even though I didn’t score because I did what was asked of me and contributed in other areas. I’m a player who fights for every ball until the last minute and what the fans saw is what I'll do until the last second I’m here,' he analysed in an interview with UDA Radio, the official station of the Club.

Regarding the crucial win over AD Ceuta FC, De la Fuente explained: 'It’s not a complete relief, but it’s an important joy because we needed to put together a good run of results. It’s clear that we wanted a change in our team dynamic and I hope this is the first of many wins to come.'

The new UD Almería striker praised his team-mates multiple times throughout the interview: 'From the outside, it was clear that this is a team full of fantastic individual talents; to share the pitch and enjoy playing with these players from the inside is a real pleasure,' he added.

Looking ahead to the next match, when UD Almería will face direct rivals, De la Fuente commented: 'We need a few consecutive victories because we're capable of doing so. I expect Cádiz CF to make things very difficult, especially since they’ll be playing at home and aren’t in the best of form. But I have full confidence that we can win there.'

Having getting promotion with CD Leganés, De la Fuente now aims for promotion with UD Almería using this formula: 'The daily work is the most important thing and of course, believing that it can be done. For me, that's essential to achieving promotion.'
