Tough road ahead for UD Almería
Back-to-back away trips to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and La Coruña set to test the Rojiblancos’ resilience
UD Almería are bracing for another challenging stretch in their LaLiga Hypermotion campaign, with two demanding away fixtures on the horizon, a pattern that mirrors the early games of the season.
Following their home clash with Sporting de Gijón, the Indálicos hit the road again for consecutive matches that promise little relief. First up is a trip to the Canary Islands, where they will take on UD Las Palmas at the Gran Canaria Stadium on Saturday, 27 September. UD Las Palmas, recently relegated from top-tier LaLiga EA Sports, are eager to reclaim their top-flight status and will pose a stern test for the visitors.
Despite the challenge, UD Almería have a respectable recent record on the island, having earned 3Ws, 5Ds and only 2Ls in their visits under the current club name. Notably, they secured a crucial win there two seasons ago in their last top-flight encounter.
Seven days later, on 4 October, the Rojiblancos will face arguably their toughest opponent yet, an in-form Deportivo de La Coruña side at the Abanca-Riazor. The Galicians are unbeaten and in rampant form, having demolished CD Mirandés (1-4) and SD Huesca (4-0) in their last two away games.
The head-to-head in La Coruña is evenly balanced: 3 wins apiece and 5 draws, but Deportivo were dominant in last season’s fixture, winning 3-1.
Once this taxing run concludes, UD Almería will return to the UD Almería Stadium Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos to host Real Zaragoza, just before the Hispanic Day holiday.
