Rubi: 'We all have to push to beat Deportivo'

The UD Almería head coach appeals to the fans before a match that he considers 'vital if it goes ahead because it'd put us in a good situation in the standings, it'd reaffirm everything we're doing and it'd give us a lot of confidence for what we're doing and what lies ahead of us'

'We all have to push to beat Deportivo,' stressed UD Almería head coach Rubi in the press conference ahead of this Sunday's match (KO 6:30pm Spanish Time). Despite it being Matchday 15, he appealed to the fans, asking them to be with his team, at the same time thanking them for their support: 'Taking this game forward would be vital because it'd put us in a good position in the standings. It'd reaffirm everything we've been doing and give us a lot of confidence for what lies ahead. It'd mean the third consecutive victory at home and begin to turn our Stadium into a very difficult venue for our rivals.'

The UD Almería gaffer was asked if this was the best time for them this season and he did not hesitate to stress: 'At the moment...yes,'  although he specified that there are still aspects to improve. He explained: 'We're now much more reliable than a few weeks ago. The team is growing and is much more focused on defence. In fact, our opponents create fewer chances and with our attacking potential we're rewarded with points.' But Rubi stressed that the match against Deportivo de la Coruña will be extremely tough and as he said 'once again we face opponents who are in form because they've won their last two games.'

The Catalan native acknowledged: 'With Idiákez in the driving seat, they also played good football, but it didn't translate into the desired points,' and went on to say that current head coach Oscar Gilsanz is changing things that are giving them positive results.

In addition, Rubi announced that it is highly likely that Fernando will be the starting XI goalkeeper and clarified: 'You think more about this goalkeeping issue than I do. I already explained to you at the time how we are operating on this matter.' He was pleased that finally, UD Almería vs Córdoba CF will be played on Tuesday, 26th November.

The Vilassar de Mar native thanked LaLiga and Córdoba CF and pointed out that until the last minute they will not decide whether Melero enters the squad list or not despite having trained the last few days with the group.
