Alberto Lasarte: 'All the players will be equally important'
The UD Almería 'B' head coach believes that his squad has to be solid and that the group's success will be decisive in having a good Segunda RFEF debut. The league is on the horizon
UD Almería 'B' have started the last week of the pre-season with their Segunda RFEF debut just around the corner. Head coach Alberto Lasarte has looked ahead to the season on UDA Radio, the Club's official radio station. He started assessing the victory in the friendly match against Juventud Torremolinos CF last Sunday: 'They're one of the toughest teams along with Granada CF 'B' that we will have next Saturday because they're rivals in our tier and group. It wasn't our best match, perhaps we didn't deserve to win. The results in this preparation period are arguable, but it's true that it was an evenly-matched game. The pieces are being adjusted and little by little, we're seeing where our strengths are.'
Mr Lasarte made a brief analysis of the creation of the squad: 'We depend on the first team in this sense. It's clear that there are three players who are training regularly with the senior team, Marcos Peña, Aarón and Rachad. Right now, they're difficult to replace and we must accept it and adapt to other players.' He is very proud of his side: 'We have to be ambitious, like we were last campaign. We must not give up. We must be a homogeneous group because the 20 players will be equally important. Group success has to make us, in the long run, be more competitive than most teams.'
The Jaén native once again emphasised the main objective of this 2024/25 season by saying: 'We must compete, play the 10 games that secure league safety and from there, not give up anything. We have to escape the bottom of the table as quickly as possible.'
Alberto Lasarte ended his interview by highlighting one of the aspects to improve in the last days of the pre-season: 'Physically, I guess we're a bit behind the teams in the division. I think it'll take us a little longer to reach 95% physical quality.'
