The UD Almería head coach explains the 7 changes made to the starting XI, insisting: 'I want everyone to be ready.' He highlighted the outstanding first-half performance, the 3 points and the improvement in UD Almería's football
'All players in the squad can play for this team'. That was UD Almería head coach Xavier García Pimienta's response when the UD Almería head coach was asked in his post-match press conference about the 'revolution' he made to the starting XI against Cádiz CF.
The gaffer wanted to make it clear: 'It's not a punishment for anyone because of the recent results. We've got a strong and complete squad, and we want everyone to be fully engaged and ready to play'.
So much so that the Barcelona native suggested: 'We may make more changes next match', before adding: 'We cannot focus on having just one starting XI. Competition for starting places is extremely high and I like that'.
Xavier García Pimienta was highly positive about 'the 3 points we've picked up, which are vital', particularly after 2 consecutive defeats, as well as the improvement in UD Almería's performance.
In fact, the gaffer explained: 'We played a great first half, in which we were the better team. I'd even say the scoreline was too close considering the chances we created. Then, in the second half, it was logical that Cádiz CF would step things up, although they did not create any clear-cut chances'.
Nevertheless, Garcia Pimienta admitted: 'We cannot suffer after everything good we did and conceding the second goal so late has left a bad taste'.
The UD Almería head coach also highlighted: 'With the ball, we were in control of the game' and called for his side to continue improving in order to maintain for longer the high level of football they produced during the opening 45 minutes.
