Diego Mariño: We're all working to turn the situation around

The Vigo-born UD Almería goalkeeper highlights on UDA Radio that they will take the bull by the horns and will go all out to start adding points in threes in the next LaLiga EA Sports fixtures

UD Almería goalkeeper Diego Mariño has spoken on Club's official radio UDA Radio, to share his thoughts on the collective and individual feelings about the opening Matchdays. There are three UD Almería skilful men who can operate between the sticks, but there is only one who can defend the goal and Maximiano is the one who is doing it at the moment. 'It isn't everyone's cup of tea because we all want to play, but only one can be lined up. If you're chosen to help on the pitch, that's perfect, if not you have to do it from the outside and improve to be ready when the moment comes,' Mariño explained.

As for the rough patch the team is going through, the Vigo-born keeper stated: 'We're all working to turn the situation around, the new head coach always encourages everyone and over these first days, we're trying to impress them. We are all working to move forward and it's hight time we reversed the situation. We were finding our way to succeed, but now we must take the bull by the horns and go all out to start adding points in threes.'

When talking about the newly appointed head coach Gaizka Garitano, the 33-year-old said: 'Garitano is a very knowledgeable coach. He really likes working and is very demanding.' José Manuel Santiesteban belongs to Garitano's backroom team and is the new goalkeeper coach and Mariño has noticed a change since his arrival compared to the previous one: 'He's got some concepts completely different from those we worked on with Jesús; for us, it's been a bigger change since he asks us to do totally different things.'
