Table remains practically the same with four Matchdays to go and two home games
Valencia CF leapfrogged UD Almería, who moved down one spot, but the Rojiblancos are still 2 points clear of the relegation zone with better goal difference over direct rivals
UD Almería, despite their 3-1 defeat to CA Osasuna at El Sadar stadium, remain in the table in a similar situation to the previous Matchday when they beat Elche CF. Although the Rojiblancos have moved down one position in the standings as they have been leapfrogged by Valencia CF, keep themselves 2 points clear of the trapdoor with better goal difference over direct rivals in the drop zone such as Getafe CF.
The LaLiga Santander table remains practically the same with 4 Matchdays to go and two home fixtures, where UD Almeria are undeniably strong. Seven teams are embroiled in the race for survival and avoid falling into the two relegation places left to be determined given he fact that Elche CF are already virtually relegated. All of them lost points last weekend except for Valencia CF who won 1-2 in Vigo, and thus, put the Celestes in trouble, who are not completely safe on 39 points.
It is tense at the bottom and this is how the top flight table looks: Celta de Vigo sit 13th with 39 points; Valencia CF are 14th with 37 points; UD Almeria are currently 15th with 36 points accrued; Cádiz CF (16th) follow the Rojiblancos one point behind (35); Real Valladolid CF are in the 17th place also with 35 points so far..and in the drop zone, third-to-bottom Getafe CF sit 18th with 34 points; 19th-placed Espanyol de Barcelona are three points behind the Madrid-based side (31); and bottom team Elche CF are already relegated with 19 points.
Relegation-threatened Celta de Vigo have seen themselves involved in the relegation tussle following their setback at home. UD Almería remain in the survival picture and keep their safety hopes alive and the fact of having two games on home turf can be decisive, although they will have to show the tactics that have led them to become one of the best home teams in the league.
RCD Mallorca, who have mathematically secured a spot to stay up, are the next ones up to visit the Power Horse Stadium this Saturday. On the penultimate Match week, direct rivals Real Valladolid CF will be travelling down south to take on the Rojiblancos. Before that, the Castilians visit Real Sociedad.
Final matches could define the season and 5 crunch games still remain between those teams fighting to the death for LaLiga survival: Cádiz CF vs Real Valladolid CF (Friday, kick-off 9pm); UD Almería vs Real Valladolid CF and Valencia CF vs Espanyol de Barcelona on the penultimate Matchday, then, Real Valladolid CF vs Getafe CF and Espanyol de Barcelona vs UD Almería on the last reverse fixture of the season.
