Léo Baptistão: 'It was just a scare'
The UD Almería striker returns to training after recovering from hospitalisation following his scary head injury
Léo Baptistão has reassured fans after his scary head injury during UD Almería's match against Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, describing it as 'just a scare.' The Brazilian forward was taken to the hospital following a heavy fall that caused him to lose consciousness, but all tests came back clear, and he is now back on his feet.
In an interview with the Club’s official media, Baptistão shared his relief: 'I'm now recovered and ready to fight again.' The 29-year-old striker recalled the incident, saying: 'When I fell, I felt a lot of pain in my back and chest and when I tried to get up, I fainted. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but thankfully, all the tests came back fine.'
After receiving initial medical care on the pitch, Baptistão was rushed to the hospital for X-rays, a CT scan and further tests. With all results satisfactory, he was discharged late Sunday night and returned to the team hotel, where he rested before flying back to Almería the following morning.
UD Almería's medical staff, including head physician Sebastián Jiménez, accompanied Baptistão throughout the process, ensuring his safety and wellbeing. The Club also acknowledged the support from Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, who have shown keen interest in his recovery.
