De la Fuente: 'Every striker dreams of playing for a team like this'

The first UD Almería January signing is eager to make an impact ahead of his debut as a Rojiblanco against Dépor this Saturday

Miguel de la Fuente has been officially presented by Club CEO Mohamed El Assy as UD Almería's first signing of January, and the 26-year-old centre-forward expressed his excitement at joining the Club. During his presentation, De la Fuente revealed his immediate readiness to contribute to the team.

From the outset, the centre-forward made it clear that UD Almería was always his preferred destination: 'From the beginning, I knew that UD Almería was the team I wanted to join because every player in the second division would want to come here. I’m ready and prepared for whenever the head coach decides,' he stated.

The Valladolid native, who brings two promotions to his name, shared his initial thoughts on the squad: 'Every striker dreams of being surrounded by the best possible players, and the numbers speak for themselves for this team, who has scored the most goals in the second division so far.'

The new January recruit also praised the Club’s head coach, Rubi, commenting: 'Everyone knows his track record and I’m delighted to be part of a team led by him.'

With a strong work ethic and versatility, De la Fuente outlined his qualities as a player: 'I consider myself a striker with grit and energy who always wants to help his team-mates. I feel comfortable playing as a centre-forward or in a deeper position.'

Ahead of his UD Almería debut against Deportivo La Coruña, he was optimistic about the team's chances: 'I’ve watched a lot of UD Almería games on telly and although we’re facing two very high-quality teams, I’m pretty sure we can get the win.'
