‘Today’s group training reunion was filled with joy at Juegos Mediterraneos’

César de la Hoz values in a very positive way the possibility to carry out group training at long last

After the great news that UD Almería were able to begin their first training in small groups, César de la Hoz made statements to the club's official media and stated: ‘the team were filled with joy. We were able to enjoy training much more interacting with other team-mates’. Socially distant training has given way to ‘a day of reunions’ and ‘feelings of excitement because we see that we are finally moving forward’. Also, he pointed out: ‘there were team-mates whom I had not seen for a long time because they were on different time slots last week.’

Despite the burning desire to arrive at the Juegos Mediterraneos Stadium last week, the Cantabrian player woke up feeling immensely enthusiastic and excited because they could participate in rondos after more than two months. He joked about missing so much winding each other up since ‘that is also part of the world of football.’

When it comes down to the resumption of the Segunda Division after the Covid-19, César de la Hoz stressed that he is one of the footballers who are not afraid of physical contact. In this sense, he explained: ‘We have some regular check-ups. We know that we are all fine and none of us mind to have that little contact. Once you're training, if you have to kick or touch the ball, you’ll just do it.’

The midfielder also expressed his opinion about what LaLiga SmartBank matches will be like once the 'de-escalation' ends. He defines them as ‘more open because there will be a deep desire to win by the teams and we will feel exhausted in the last minutes. Normally, players go the extra mile after the 80th minute, but now it is likely that we get worn out earlier, he said.

De la Hoz acknowledged feeling jealous when he sees that in Germany competition matches have already been held while it will be necessary to ‘wait a little bit more’ in Spain. He said that ‘just the fact of getting ready for training brightens up your morning.’ However, what he missed the most was celebrating goals with hugs after his first group training experience.
