Sergio Arribas: "We'll change the situation with a good game"

The UD Almería attacking midfielder is sure that they must make the most of the fact that the gap with the most direct rivals in the table is not that big. "The vibes in the last matches got better," he states

UD Almería attacking midfielder Sergio Arribas, who is the team's top scorer with five goals, has visited the UDA Radio studio to talk about the team's current situation. The Madrid-born footballer made it clear: 'We'll change the situation with a good game' as he considers it essential 'to make the most of the fact that the gap with the most direct rivals is still not that big.'

Despite not having won a league match [UD Almería won the Spanish Cup first-round tie against CF Talavera de la Reina 0-2] yet and adding only three points, UD Almería are 6 points away from safety. 'We're lucky that the teams just above us in the table do not get points in threes either, so everything will change when we achieve the first victory because it's what we really need.' Furthermore, as he stressed: 'The vibes in the last matches got better.'

'Now football has become more physical and what the head coach wants from us is that we all defend as a team even if we're more of attacking players. Maybe we weren't so used to it, but that's what the head coach says and we're determined to do it,' he explained.

On the other hand, the former RM Castilla player pointed out: 'We have more than enough of a team to change the situation. We started with bad results from the beginning,  but at Getafe's home, it's a good time to put an end to this (winless) streak.'

'The people here treat me very well, they're  approachable and I'm grateful for the warm welcome since my arrival. When it comes to football, it's the same, this is a family because I left a club with an incredible impact worldwide. Here, we stick together even if we don't achieve the results we're looking for, but we have to continue to team up,' he added.

In terms of personal achievements, the player who has earned his name onto the scoresheet five times this season indicated: 'I'm growing a lot and I'm adapting well. It's a great change to move up from the Primera RFEF to the top flight because of the intensity and pace at which the ball moves.'

'This is an atypical week, with many UD Almería players away on international duty and quite a few 'B' team  players joining us in training, but we have to continue working as a group and be a team on the pitch. We have to prepare well for the game against Getafe CF because it'll be a very tough game,' Arribas concluded.
