Garitano: winning Sunday's match is of the utmost importance

The UD Almería head coach assured at a pre-match press conference that beating Deportivo Alavés would be vital to get fully into the fight as they are direct rivals

UD Almería head coach Gaizka Garitano spoke to the media ahead of Deportivo Alavés vs UD Almería match this Sunday (Kao 2pm Spain Time). He said that the main objective to face this encounter is that 'we're going to recover players for this match, we're going to have a larger group.' In addition, he also highlighted: 'Step by step, UD Almería are picking up the pace and starting to win, winning always does you good and we have to get into a winning streak.' Also, Mr Garitano stressed: 'Winning against Alavés would be vital as they're direct rivals. We need a victory and this Sunday, we have an opportunity to get fully into the fight.' 

Regarding Sunday's hosts Deportivo Alavés, the Basque Country native assured: 'They have good players and a good group, they do things well, they're a different team from our last opponents, they have quality and stand out for their strength on the wings, attacking in the area and it will require a lot of concentration, duels… they play at a very high intensity.'

Moreover, the Bilbao-born gaffer made it clear: 'This match is of the utmost importance to us, it's not easy to win every day, each match is more decisive, we have to continue improving and be competitive from start to finish.' 

The UD Almería head coach also made an assessment on his team: 'We're a team that, from the midfield up create a lot of good plays and chances, but we need to have a good defensive block and those who attack help defend in a low block too when needed.'
