Rubi greatly values UD Almería's triumph in Tenerife considering it a very complicated venue to win
‘This victory is fresh air in the dressing room,’ exclaimed UD Almeria head coach Rubi at the post-game presser after UD Almería bagged again the three points in LaLiga SmartBank. In the coach's opinion, having obtained a positive score will help ‘the team realise that when they work in one direction, the positive results come.’
The Rojiblancos head coach defined the victory as ‘worthwhile’ as he believes that winning at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López ‘is not easy at all given that it has been a while since CD Tenerife last lost on home turf.’ On that note, the Catalan mentioned that he was happy with the changes that he made even though the fact that the home team went down to ten men could make things easier: ‘The players have learned well what they had to do to avoid counter-attacks and move the opponents side to side until we could grasp a chance.’
Joan Francesc Ferrer Sicilia, ‘Rubi’ stressed that for UD Almería it was essential to collect all three points to forget about the draw against Real Oviedo, a game in which the Indálicos with that feeling of deserving more than a point. In the same way, he pointed out: ‘The team had not won for weeks and in the end, I think they have to keep correcting things, but it always gets better with the victory.’
The 51-year-old gaffer admitted that he sees ‘the footballers very involved’ and ‘looking forward to finishing the season well’, which led him to point out as ‘a step forward’ that the concepts worked on throughout the week were put into practice on the pitch. ‘We tried to fix defensive errors so as not to give away scoring opportunities and we’ve taken a step forward in that way.’
