Third-tier CE L'Hospitalet will be Almería’s adversaries in prestigious Copa del Rey

The game is to be played in Barcelona on 16 December. The Rojiblancos' next opponents got promoted to Segunda Division ‘B’ last season

Centre d'Esports L'Hospitalet, who compete in third-tier ‘Segunda Division B’, will be the first Almería's opponents in the Copa del Rey first round, the men’s domestic Spanish knockout competition. The fixture was determined by a random draw held at La Cartuja Stadium in Seville and therefore, the one-legged tie is going to be played on Wednesday, 16 December, at the Estadi Municipal de Futbol de L'Hospitalet located in the town of Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), whose pitch is made of artificial turf.

It was a dream come true: Centre d'Esports L'Hospitalet were promoted to third-tier Segunda Division ‘B’ last season 2019/20 after several years facing this significant challenge. Over the course of the current 2020/21 campaign, they compete within group 3 ‘A’. The Catalan side are sitting third in the standings following 5 wins, 2 draws and only 1 defeat.

There is no escaping the fact that the following weekend after this Copa del Rey match, Almería will also have to play in Barcelona against current leaders Espanyol. It will be the last LaLiga SmartBank matchday before the Christmas break.
