‘There are no teams who can take being high in the standings for granted’

José María Gutiérrez praises Elche CF and talks about the demanding championship

José María Gutiérrez, the UD Almeria’s head coach, has given a press conference to talk about this Sunday's game against Elche and the rojiblanco team’s updates. He has praised Elche and has not hesitated to label the upcoming game against the ilicitanos as demanding. He also talked about his expectations for the rest of the competition, 18 match weeks.

In this sense, the Almeria’s first team’s head coach made it clear that ‘I think climbing up positions in the table is something positive; It is a nice thing, but right now we have to keep up the good work if we want to stay at the top. There are many bullish teams in the tournament. It will not be easy for anyone to be in the top positions. The important thing is to keep on winning’.

Of course, Almeria will try to defeat Elche on Sunday. José María Gutiérrez said that ‘it is a team that is likely to play and keep the ball, so do we. There will definitely be a battle for possession’. Next, he added that ‘Elche have got talented midfielders and forwards and the team are enjoying a successful season’. In addition, he pointed out ‘Even though they play football very well, I don’t think they will complicate things on the pitch’.

In any case, the UD Almeria’s head coach explained that ‘we have got enough time to improve. It is important for us to keep our undefeated run as it will give us strength to get hold onto the top positions. We should worry more about ourselves because if we continue to bag points in threes, we will achieve our goal without having to care about other teams’.
