The RFEF hands down a one-game suspension to Sadiq Umar

The Spanish Football Federation comes to understand the arguments of Almería’s appeal, yet does not overturn the referee’s ruling

The Spanish Football Federation hands down a one-game ban to UD Almeria centre-forward Sadiq Umar following his sending-off in Fuenlabrada as a result of being awarded two yellow cards. The Club issued an appeal to the RFEF disciplinary body that comes to understand the arguments of UD Almeria. Nevertheless, they do not overturn the referee’s ruling.

The resolution adopted by the competition committee states: ‘this committee cannot fail to highlight that it is the same opponent who has been tackled in the plays analysed, having verified that he shows an exaggerated attitude that should have been disapproved, inasmuch as this type of behaviour can alter the spirit and progress of the game and hinders the refereeing work.’

As mentioned above, the RFEF does not overturn the match official’s ruling and therefore, Sadiq will have to fulfil the sanction. Given that he was sent off after being shown two yellow cards, once he serves one-game ban, his four accumulated yellow cards will stand so that he will be one booking away from missing the next fixture.
